Established 1987
was established July, 1987 in the old First United building, currently Marvin’s Men’s Wear. In July 1988, we moved to the corner of Alder and 2nd Street. Partners Douglas Sisler, Computer Engineer, and Paul Warnick, Electrical Engineer, made a good partnership. Together, they created custom software, built custom computers and networks while retailing electronic equipment. After working together for 5 years, Paul decided to leave the partnership to pursue other endeavors. Doug moved on and started to concentrate on custom built computers, computer peripherals, and networking.
In 1998, Doug started and created on his own, www.iceweb.net. He had now become an internet service provider, offering dial-up, ISDN, web-hosting and e-mail. Working day and night, iceweb.net became one of the area’s most popular internet service providers. On January 3rd 1999 tragedy struck the company. A fire from and upstairs apartment had completely destroyed the building. Doug was able to remove some critical hardware before the fire destroyed it all. Within four days of the fire iceweb.net was back on line in a temporary location. In October of 1999, we moved to our current location. Doug had achieved great success. His dream was to pass on his business to his two sons, Cameron and Nathan. Things were going great, but the business was too much for Doug to handle by himself. In December, 2000, his wife, Norma came on board.
The next two years were going great and all Doug could ask for. In April 2002, I.C. Electronics, bought and took over the business of Micro Integration of Grantsville. In August of the same year, I.C. Electronics incorporated. Unfortunately, tragedy struck our company again. On November 11, 2002, Doug’s life was taken due to an unknown illness. After his death, his wife, Norma took over the day to day management of the business. Before there was DSL and Cable internet in Oakland, ICEWEB.NET was the first, and still only provider of wireless broadband internet. What started out as a single access point in Oakland (July 2000) has grown into 9 access points with coverage from Pleasant Valley to Saint Paul, PA. In August of 2004 ICEWEB.NET was the first ISP to provide DSL to the Oakland area.
Currently (Aug. 2008) I.C. Electronics can provide its customers the following services: Internet (dial-up, ISDN, wireless) E-mail, Domain Hosting, Co-location of servers, Web-site design, networking solutions (wired or wireless), Custom built computers, and Computer repairs.
On September 1st 2008 Innovative Concepts in Electronics, Inc. took over the customers from GCNet.net.
